If it wasn't painfully obvious before...

... I'm a HUGE GUI geek. I present Rarr!*, a custom made Growl display scheme (complete with animated logo), as unequivocal evidence of my debilitating affliction. Please, avert your eyes... I'm hideous.
* this ware is provided for your enjoyment with the clear understanding I am no way responsible of the havoc it may or may not wreck on your already precariously running system.

Techno Lust Wednesday
Let me switch editorial gears and actually thank the good folks at FEMA for their wise crisis media management approach, otherwise I fear my attention would have been diverted from today's momentous techno-lust Apple-branded consumerism extravaganza. Earlier today Steve Jobs presented the world with the much anticipated unveiling of the iPod & mobile phone hybrid. The Motorola ROKR (as widely predicted and extensively reported) is here; however, despite—or as a result of—being hyped in the rumor circuit for more months that I wish to count, the unfashionably late arrival of the iPhone was no match to the Kool-Aid man style splash made by the real star of the day. Meet the iPod Nano.

So tiny! So thin! So new! So Apple! It really makes carrying a clunky hard-drive-yielding 4th Generation iPod feel like the cruelest of medieval tortures. Do yourself a favor and get one immediately, lest you run the risk of being publicly ridiculed by the Nano wielding iMobs reportedly gathering outside Apple stores and Cingular outlets in all major cities and surrounding affluent suburbs.

Making Tiger Meow Louder
Mac OS Tiger has been out for four months now, but how much do we really know about the cagey cat? This third encarnation of the System Feline is packed with so many minute functionality improvements that one could go years without ever discovering them. Enter the good folks over at Macworld who are hard at work sifting through all the obscure innards of this dense beast to hand pick the most relevant, if not immediately apparent, functionalities. The first installment focuses on System Settings, and gosh-darn-it, they actually are hella good tips. The dictionary thing is by far my favorite, but feel free to be original and pick your own.
